How does a basic researcher become a biotech founder? And how does a structured innovation program like SPARK change not just a project, but a scientist's entire way of thinking?
In this webinar, Prof. Dr. Craig Garner shares his personal journey from neurobiology lab to three co-founded biotech companies. He will talk about how SPARK shaped his approach to translating research into therapeutics, and how he has since applied that same framework to drive innovation in new contexts and communities.
Craig entered SPARK as one of the first SPARKees at Stanford University, later built the program at the Charité in Berlin, and played a central role in establishing the SPARK Europe Network. His experience spans the US, Switzerland, and Germany, bridging rigorous basic science and real-world translational work.
In this webinar, you will hear about:
- How Craig moved from basic neurobiology research to founding companies
- What SPARK changed in his scientific thinking and decision-making
- How the SPARK methodology can be applied beyond drug development, to broader social innovation and community-building
This webinar is hosted by SPARK-BIH as part of the SPARK Europe Education Webinar Series, running every month on a Wednesday at 16:00 CET.
